Sustainability Policy
Elsi Design Ltd — June 2025
1. Our commitment
Elsi Design Ltd is committed to operating in a way that minimises our environmental footprint and contributes positively to the built environment. Sustainability is integral to our business model: we design and manufacture low-energy timber frame systems that reduce whole-life carbon in housing construction.
2. Timber sourcing
All structural timber used in Elsi systems is sourced from UK or EU suppliers holding FSC or PEFC chain-of-custody certification. We review our supplier credentials annually and will not knowingly procure timber from uncertified or illegally logged sources.
3. Manufacturing
Our factory operations target continuous improvement in energy efficiency, waste reduction and material utilisation. Timber offcuts are segregated, re-used in production or returned to biomass fuel supply chains. We measure waste-to-landfill rates and set reduction targets.
4. Product performance
The Elsi system is designed to meet or exceed low energy building fabric performance standards, reducing operational energy demand across the lifetime of each dwelling. We advocate for energy modelling on all projects and supply the data needed for accurate SAP and EPC assessments.
5. Transport and logistics
Factory-produced panels reduce site deliveries compared to traditional masonry construction. We route deliveries to minimise vehicle movements and consolidate loads where programme allows.
6. Review
This policy is reviewed annually by the Board. Targets and performance data are made available to clients and partners on request.
